Changes in Garuda Indonesia's flight network

Garuda Indonesia has revealed a major route reconfiguration which will see it add more flights to Asia Pacific destinations and reduce services on its only European route.

Due to what the airline called the -declining market both to and from Europe-. Garuda will reduce its Jakarta-Dubai-Amsterdam service from daily to four times a week. From 1 March 2012, the airline will operate the route ex-Jakarta every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday using a 222-seat, two-class Airbus A330-200.

The make up for the European decline, Garuda will add two new international routes in Asia Pacific and add services to one other. From 27 April the airline will launch a new service connecting Bali with Tokyo Haneda, then on 19 May it will launch Jakarta-Taipei services. Prior to this in February 2012, Garuda will increase the frequency of its Jakarta-Kuala Lumpur from twice to three times a day.

The new Bali-Haneda route will be served five times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) using a 257-seat Airbus A330-300, while the Jakarta-Taipei service will operate daily using a 156-seat Boeing 737-800.

The launch of the Bali-Haneda service however, will see the discontinuation of Garuda's existing Bali-Nagoya service from 10 April 2012.

On the domestic front, Garuda will boost several routes. From 10 February the Jakarta-Batam will rise from four to five daily flights, and the Jakarta-Pekanbaru will increase from five to six daily flights. Also from this date it will add a new daily Bandung-Surabaya service.
